The kitchen is such a vital space in most homes and we enjoy the challenge of making it both functional and beautiful. Its the hub of so much family activity… and you know everyone gathers there for parties!
Each kitchen remodel and design is unique, because each home, each dream and each budget is different. Here are four unique, award-winning Master Remodelers kitchen remodeling projects in Pittsburgh.
While Master Remodelers has done hundreds of kitchen remodeling projects since 1988, these four represent an interesting range of possibilities. They also represent our unique approach to remodeling. (read more about our remodeling approach)
An ‘aging in place’ remodel for a senior citizen
Back in 2008, Master Remodelers took on a project to renovate a lovely little church in the country for a senior citizen. This renovation would place her close to her daughter and feature many ‘aging in place’ convenience features, ones that would allow her to stay in her home for as long as possible into the future. It also included many ‘lite green’ features for energy efficiency and saving. The kitchen here has won 2 remodeling awards. Read more about this kitchen remodeling project.
Kitchen makeover for retired submarine commander’s family
In 2010 this Squirrel Hill family wanted to completely makeover a tired 30-year old remodel in their classic Arts and Crafts home in heart of one of the finest neighborhoods in the city. Their kitchen wasn’t serving their family’s needs and it was just plain ugly. So they wanted a modern, efficient kitchen with a lot of high tech features… in an updated Arts and Crafts style to honor their home’s heritage. Again, we wrapped in some ‘green’ energy efficiency features and recycled some of their old kitchen at Construction Junction. This kitchen makeover has won 3 remodeling awards. A kitchen and pool patio project timed for a graduation party
This Mt. Lebanon family of four dreamed of their Tudor home being a more cozy gathering place for their two teenagers and their friends. They also wanted the remodeled kitchen space to flow easily onto a revamped patio and pool area for entertaining guests. And how about a 2-sided fireplace in the kitchen, along with lots of high tech features including a sound system with invisible speakers. Uninspired by another architect’s plans, they fell in love with our concept and 3-D animation of their dream. In June of 2010 the project was completed, just in time for the high school graduation bash. This won a Housing Excellence award that year. Also view their video testimonial about the result.
A kitchen addition and new deck for Mt. Lebanon couple
Expecting their first child this Fall, these two educators also had a dated, dark and very small kitchen. To accommodate their wishes for a large island, plus room for their dining room table, we proposed a home addition that would triple the kitchen size and add a large deck off the kitchen.
As with the previous family, they wanted the kitchen space to flow easily into the outdoors—onto the new deck and with woodland views through big beautiful Marvin windows. Like the previous kitchen remodel, this one included a wonderful array of new appliances and many high tech features: LED lighting, sound system with invisible speakers and a large HDTV.
